As E.P Mooney are one of our trade store owners we were delighted to hear of this lovely EUROS story…
This dad-of-four (left), from Kimmage in Dublin, aged 71, was left facing a bleak summer… After 50 years attending Ireland games, and after a ticket portal crash when he was trying to purchase his tickets online – all other attempts to bag a matchday pass were coming up empty too… Left facing the prospect of not being able to attend the matches, Joe was praying something would come along and help him. After various attempts with no results, Joe’s prayers were answered. The Irish Sun, together with E.P Mooney Hyundai on Dublin’s Long Mile Road sorted out Group C tickets for him.
“I don’t know what to say. I was praying to God that something might come up and He hasn’t let me down.”
When Joe, from Kimmage, got wind that he would be receiving a ticket for the Group C games courtesy of the two companies, he understandably described himself as “over the moon.” – “I’m so grateful to the Irish Sun and Mooney Hyundai for looking after me. Words can’t express how happy I am.”
Big hat lover Joe — whose highlight as a fan was being featured in an Italy ’90 documentary (!)—added:
“I had said I’d run down O’Connell Street naked for a spare ticket,”but luckily it didn’t have to come to this…
We will avoid the ‘mooney’ joke here, but honestly what a lovely gesture on behalf of both companies. We know Joe will enjoy the matches… a truly deserving fan!
